Goal Setting for 2019

With the new year in full gear, all of our dancers at L.E.A are honing in their skills ready to start routines! I believe that a really great way to push ourselves as dancers are to set some goals for ourselves. Whether this be to work on that acro trick that you’ve been wanting to get, strengthen your turn-out or get your splits, this simple goal setting method will help you achieve them by the end of the term!

Step 1:

Find 5 or more things that you want to improve on. Try and think of things that you’ve been corrected on before, or things that you’ve seen done before that you want to give a go.

Step 2:

Dedicate a notebook or folder to your dance goals for the entire year, and write them down however you want! Be creative with it, draw pictures, put in some of your ribbons or awards to motivate you and make it your own.

Step 3:

Practice, Practice, Practice! Work on your goals as often as possible, whether this be stretching your back so you can improve your flexibility, or turning your heart out to get a double turn! Find as many ways to practice your goals so you can achieve them.

Step 4:

When you’ve achieved one of your goals, cross it out and try and come up with a new one. The more goals you achieve, the better dancer you’ll be!

And there you go! If you follow these steps and focus on your goals, I guarantee that you’ll achieve any goal you set for yourself. It’s all about perseverance and self-control. Try to follow these steps throughout the whole year, and by the end of it you’ll be twice the dancer you were before!

Work hard and dance your heart out!
