Director / Principal
Lauren Elizabeth Wormald is a highly respected choreographer in the UK and now in Australia having choreographed and taught for many dance studios, fashion shows, events, cabarets, professional productions, holiday camps, gyms, schools, fitness studios, theatre productions including productions such as Grease, Hairspray, Chicago, The wizard of oz, Legally Blonde, Higher & Higher and Heathers. With over 15 years of experience in the performing arts industry she wanted to focus on building her own dream and so L. E. Academy was born and established in late 2015.
Lauren holds teaching and performance qualifications with the I. D. T. A (international dance teachers association) the U. K. C. A (United Kingdom cheerleading association) the A. T. O .D (Australian Teachers Of Dancing) Acrobatics Arts and a qualification in Zumba fitness instructing.
Lauren trained professionally at the well renowned Phil Winston’s Theatre works college and agency in the UK for three years in all aspects of dance and performance. Her professional credits include: three contracts with Disneyland Paris as a Character, dancer and parade performer, Siblu Resorts (France) as dance captain and choreographer, Singer/Dancer in the works showcases and cabarets (Blackpool), various promotional events, singer/dancer in variety performances at the Royal Albert Hall (London), Entertainment at Paradise Resort (Gold Coast), TV Extra work, Choreographer of community charity fashion shows and various dance schools, college and university performances, dance and fitness teacher for Madonna’s gym Hard Candy-(Sydney), Dancer at Mardi Gras (Sydney), Special performance at the GCTA Arts Centre and many other dance schools/ gyms and theatres.
In 2016 Lauren was awarded with the “Best Choreographer 2016” award at the Gold Coast Theatre Alliance Awards for her work on a production at spotlight theatre in which she also performed.
Ballet (Level 2 & 3)
Miss Layla is a very experienced ballet teacher and ballerina in 2016 she moved to America to perform with the American Ballet Company in which she performed in the nutcracker in California and the ABT Fall Gala which she was handpicked from the company to perform in Rondo Capriccioso choreographed by Alexei Ratmasky and Pas de deux choreographed by Marcelua Gomez in New York.
She also performed in the commonwealth games closing ceremony with a small group of dancers. Miss Layla has won many awards throughout her career in dance including the (YAGAP) Youth American Grand Prix Finalist in New York City ( top 25 ballet dancers in the world) where she was the only female competitor to be offered a contract the American Ballet theatre Studio Company.
Miss Layla was also a featured dancer in the Bloch magazines. She is a well renowned teacher on the gold coast providing ballet, pilates, strength and conditioning, examination work, solo and group competition preparation. She is currently studying her cert 4 in fitness and holds a cert 3 in fitness & pilates mat. Miss Layla is very excited to be a part of our L. E. Academy dance family and looks forward to helping progress our stars technique further.

Intermediate and Junior Contemporary/Lyrical
Charlotte is a budding teaching artist on the Gold Coast who loves her dance. Starting from the age of 3 in all styles, she trained and studied at a GC ballet school to then complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts- Dance at QUT after finishing school. This year she has started her Masters of Teaching, and alongside study, she works as an entertainer/performer at Dreamworld. Additionally, Charlotte loves to jump onstage and was recently a dancer in Spotlight’s We Will Rock You musical theatre production, and also hosts the FarmYard Friends children show at the Ekka yearly. Last year she was the Dance Captain of QUT’s Elite Dance competition team and carried them through a few wins. Charlotte teaches contemporary and ballet across the Gold Coast and is so excited to join the L.E.A team!
Ballet (Level 4)
Ballet Pointe Class
Miss Done is a registered Cecchetti Ballet teacher and moved from Melbourne this year after closing her own ballet school of almost 11yrs. She has made the Gold Coast her home and loves teaching and progressing dancers technical abilities.
Miss Dione’s students have always received above average results in exams has had students accepted in the Melbourne City Youth Ballet training program. She is currently completing Progressing Ballet Technique training so is also be able to teach conditioning specific to ballet she also teaches yoga for dancers.
She attended Adelaide Uni in the early 90’s ( BA Dance ) training with Simi and David Roche (ex Martha Graham) Leigh Warren, Elizabeth Cameron Dalmen, Aust Dance Theatre and more she also attended Deakin Uni ( BA in Contemporary Arts ) in the late 2000’s and has been involved with projects collaborating with Jo Lloyd (Chunky Move) and learning with many amazing Melbourne based contemporary artists.
She has done video clips with Screaming Jets, Hoo Doo Gurus and worked as a showgirl/ backup dancers for Barry Crocker and Lorre Desmond.
Miss Dione is looking forward to further developing the L. E. Academy stars and is excited to get in to the studio with you all! Miss Dione will be taking over Ballet level 4 and pointe classes.
MISS MELANIE RANKINE
Hip Hop, Boys Only & Cheerleading
Mel has 23 years experience as a dancer and performer with over 5years experience as a hip hop teacher for multiple ages.
Mel attended Ikin fulltime dance course in 2009, where she gained lots of experience and studied all styles of dance.
Mel’s professional credits include back up dancer for Jessica Mauboy, featured dancer on SYTYCD 2009, Notorious dance comp with her crew/ 2nd place, backing dancer for Australia/Indian ambassador Pop star Aiyisha, several Burlesque Dolls shows and workshops, Featured dancer in Legally Blonde at spotlight theatre and Cha Cha in grease at phoenix theatre.
Mel likes to keep herself fit and in training so she also attends regular dance classes to keep up her skills and remain relevant in the industry.
Mel is happy to be on board as a L. E. Academy team member and looks forward to working with all the talented L. E. A stars!
Mini Stars Classes
Level 1 Tap
Jess is a Gold Coast based teacher and performer who is utterly passionate about dancing, singing, performing and teaching. After years of training, she completed her Cert 4 of Commercial Dance and Musical Theatre at Brent Street in 2013. After studying Primary Education for three years, Jess now works full time as a singer, dancer and suit character at Dreamworld.
Additionally, she has been a member of “Insomnia” Hip Hop crew, a dancer in the Gold Coast Suns Squad, a suit performer and host in children’s show “Farmyard Friends” and a back up dancer for drag performer Justine Kace. In her spare time Jess loves to perform in musicals, recently doing Heathers and Higher and Higher at Spotlight Theatre.
Jess is very excited to join in L.E.Academy family, and share her passion and knowledge with a new generation.
MISS Jackie Pointing
Jackie has performed and studied in many varying styles of theatre and voice.
She graduated from the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries in 2013 where she furthered her studies in Theatre and Film. She has also trained in Musical Theatre, contemporary voice and classical voice over the past 12 years.
Her performance highlights include playing the roles of Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, Vivienne Kensington in Legally Blonde, Natalie Goodman in Next To Normal and Isle in Spring Awakening.
Having 5 years teaching experience Jackie is an extremely passionate coach and loves to share her knowledge of the performing arts to help her students to grow as performers and artists.
MISS MADDIE O’CONNOR
Maddie started dancing at the age of just 4 years old , she has practiced many forms of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, cheerleading and really loves the diversity of each style.
Maddie is in the Dance Excellence and Triple Threat Excellence programs at Southport High School and also holds a scholarship in the Academic Excellence program. Hence, she has been able to continue her passion in school-based performances such as Waikikirri, a national competition for Story Through Dance where her school won awards in the Regional and State Finals, various Gold Coast Eisteddfod dance teams and recently on the dance team in their school musical production of Fame.
In addition, Maddie has complemented dance with acting, having played Sharpay in High School Musical and the Queen of Hearts in Dorothy in Wonderland.
A member of L.E. Academy’s Elite Eisteddfod Team, Maddie has performed in various competitions and was so excited when their team qualified to compete in the DanceLife Nationals in Sydney.
One of the inaugural dance students of L. E. Academy when Miss Lauren opened her doors, Maddie was proud to be asked to train as a Student Teacher. She loves her role in assisting miss Lauren with classes as this is a great preparation of her future dreams to have a professional career in the dance industry.
MISS CAITLIN APPI
MISS LUANA BEE AUTILIO
Luana started dance at the age of 7 and from there has participated in different styles of dance including jazz, contemporary, cheer, acro & was also training level 5 in gymnastics at Broadbeach PCYC.
Luana holds a place in the dance excellence program at Southport State High School and she also takes part in their academic excellence program. She has been included in a number of school based events such as being cast as the “March Hare” in “Dorothy in Wonderland” in 2015, being in the Gold Coast eisteddfod dance team team for both Ashmore State School and L. E. Academy as well as competing in gymnastics competitions from levels one through 5.
MISS ELLA GRAY
Hi my name is Ella, I dance at L. E. Academy and I do a variety of dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, hip-hop and Acro and I have the privilege to be a part of an amazing elite competition team.
Through L. E. Academy I have been able to experience many opportunities, such as, competing at nationals in Sydney and participating in many dance competitions around the coast. I’m proud to be apart of the L. E. A family, with very supportive and caring students and most of all our amazing dance teachers, they do such an awesome job.
L. E. A makes me inspired to become a better dancer, every time I step through the doors. I believe that no matter who you are, everyone can dance and have fun. I hope in future I can inspire people and entertain them by making them feel a certain emotion towards my dancing. I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings each and every person of L. E. Academy.
MISS AMELIA WISE
Amelia attended her first ballet class at the age of 5. She has progressed through her RAD Ballet Exams to Intermediate Foundation Level. She is now learning pointe work through Cecchetti Ballet program with Miss Erin. Amelia has a love of all styles of dance including jazz, contemporary / lyrical , musical theatre and is now learning tap.
Amelia won a dance scholarship to Benowa State High and is currently studying in their STEM academic program. She has a love of musicals and performed in her first Musical as a cheer leader last year in Benowa State High’s “High School Musical”.
Over the years Amelia has been involved in many Elite Teams performing across the Gold Coast at competitions and eisteddfods, but the highlight was dancing with the first L.E.A Elite Team and making it through to Dance Life United Nationals in Sydney making lots of memoires and lasting friendships.
One of Amelia’s dream’s was to be a student teacher, she has always looked up to her older role models and it was something she strived to be. She loves teaching younger students and hopes to be a positive role model for them to look up to. Amelia is honored to be a part of the L.E.A team.
MR DANE WALKER
Dane is a year 11 student who started dancing when he was two years old and attended Scream Dance and Drama in the U.K. He performed in many shows and even appeared in two TV shows. Dane’s love of dance was inspired by Michael Jackson and over the years has self-choreographed numerous dance routines.
Dane attends Queensland Academies of Health Sciences and volunteers in the boy’s hip hop dance class as part of his school curriculum in which he thoroughly enjoys as he has dance and music in his bones.
