Hey guys! It’s Amelia here, and today I’m going to talk about some of my favourite musicals. Enjoy!

1) What was the first musical you ever saw live?
My first live musical was at Spotlight Theatre; I watched Hairspray and it was the best thing ever! I remember in the song ‘I Can Hear the Bells’ a character came up to me and asked if I could hear the bells. I completely freaked out and just sat there smiling, then she walked away. It was a great first experience.

2) What was your favourite musical growing up?
When I was young my favorite musical, hands down, was Grease. I used to always dance and make routines to the songs with my sister. Our performances in the lounge room were the best.

3) If you could be any female character, who would you be and why?
I would love to be Heather Chandler from Heathers. Just being so powerful and sassy would be so fun! #goals.

4) If you could be any male character, who would you be and why?
Okay, I have two for this one because I couldn’t decide (oops). I would either be Elder Cunningham from Book of Mormon because he would be such a funny character. Or I would be Michael Mell from Be More Chill, because he’s such a cool character and singing ‘Michael in the Bathroom’ would be the best thing ever!

5) What do you think is the most underrated musical?
There’s a musical not many people know about named A Very Potter Musical and it’s by Team Starkid. It’s musical theatre and Harry Potter combined, what more do you need in life? It’s so funny and I love it with all my heart. The musical and the sequel are available on YouTube, and I totally recommend watching it!

6) Go-to songs to dance to
If I was in a more contemporary mood I would go for ‘Burn’ from Hamilton, ‘Unlikely Lovers’ from Falsettos, or ‘Words Fail’ from Dear Evan Hansen. For a more funky, upbeat, party dance I would choose ‘We See the Light’ from Something Rotten, ‘A Day in Falsettoland’ from Falsettos and ‘The Smartphone Hour’ from Be More Chill. Some of these songs contain explicit language, so parental discretion is advised.

Thanks for reading, I’m going to go listen to the Hamilton cast recording for the 100th time!
